Dr. Rachel Kovacs, Psy.D., is a licensed psychologist in the state of Maryland and has expertise in the assessment and treatment of children, adolescents, and their families. Dr. Kovacs holds a Masters and Doctorate degree in Clinical Psychology from La Salle University in Philadelphia, PA. She has trained at several pediatric hospitals across the country including The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, Primary Children’s Hospital, and Kennedy Krieger Institute/Johns Hopkins Medicine as well as with adults in community mental health centers and medical settings. Dr. Kovacs has worked in several multi-disciplinary clinics including pain rehabilitation, sleep, and headache clinics. She is experienced and knowledgeable in integrating evidence-based research into clinical practice in the treatment of chronic pain and related conditions.
Dr. Kovacs has a specialty in treating children and teens with medical conditions and co-occurring mood symptoms, adjustment, anxiety, functional disability, medical adherence, and behavioral concerns. She has extensive experience treating mood disorders and anxiety with children, adolescents, and adults and employs a collaborative and integrative approach with an emphasis on cognitive and behavioral principles. Dr. Kovacs provides a warm and supportive atmosphere and implements the most effective treatment for each individual throughout the therapeutic process.
