Dr. Rachel Kovacs, Psy.D., is a licensed psychologist in the state of Maryland and has expertise in the assessment and treatment of children, adolescents, and their families. Dr. Kovacs holds a Masters and Doctorate degree in Clinical Psychology from La Salle University in Philadelphia, PA. She has trained at several pediatric hospitals across the country including The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, Primary Children’s Hospital, and Kennedy Krieger Institute/Johns Hopkins Medicine as well as with adults in community mental health centers and medical settings. Dr. Kovacs has worked in several multi-disciplinary clinics including pain rehabilitation, sleep, and headache clinics. She is experienced and knowledgeable in integrating evidence-based research into clinical practice in the treatment of chronic pain and related conditions.

 

Dr. Kovacs has a specialty in treating children and teens with medical conditions and co-occurring mood symptoms, adjustment, anxiety, functional disability, medical adherence, and behavioral concerns. She has extensive experience treating mood disorders and anxiety with children, adolescents, and adults and employs a collaborative and integrative approach with an emphasis on cognitive and behavioral principles. Francisca Okwukogu

Francisca Okwukogu, MSN, BSN, PMHNP-BC, CRNP-PMH, is a certified psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner. She has training and experience treating patients with psychiatric disorders across the lifespan and across practice settings, from hospitals to outpatient clinics.

 

Francisca’s education includes a Bachelor of Science in Nursing at the University of Maryland Baltimore and a Master of Science in Nursing with  Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner specialization from Walden University.

Brian DeLaurentis

Brian DeLaurentis, LMSW, is a Licensed Master Social Worker who practices under the supervision of Martin Schnuit, LCSW-C. He is a recent graduate of The Catholic University of America’s National Catholic School of Social Service where he received his Master’s of Social Work with a clinical concentration. Before Catholic, Brian attended Manhattan College where he earned a bachelor’s degree in Psychology and competed at a division I level in NCAA athletics.

 

Brian has experience working with children and adolescents with multiple issues including behavioral problems, depression, and anxiety. At NIH, he interned within the Social Work department in conjunction with the National Cancer Institute (NCI) Lymphoma, NCI Thoracic MOB and NCI Thoracic Surgery teams, and NCI Head and Trach team. Brian also is comfortable working with all ages of adults with a variety of issues.

 

Brian is interested in working with a wide range of clients including those experiencing PTSD, OCD, anxiety, performance-related anxiety, ADHD, mood disorders, depression, behavioral problems, bereavement/grief, traumatic stress, and bi-polar disorder.

Timothy Griffith

Timothy Griffith, LCSW-C is a licensed clinical social worker. He has a wide range of experience in the delivery and administration of human services including: social services, behavioral health, aging and disabilities, public health, and juvenile justice. He received his Master of Social Work degree from the University of Pennsylvania, and he has also completed a variety of post-master’s clinical social work courses, as well as a certificate in substance use counseling.

Mr. Griffith’s most recent clinical work prior to joining Spectrum in November 2019 focused primarily on adults and seniors with serious mental illnesses, many of whom also had substance use or medical concerns.

Areas of professional interest include depression and other mood issues, anxiety, stress, trauma, substance use, grief and loss, anger management, mindfulness, managing physical health concerns, communication and relationship issues, and thinking and perceptual concerns.

Katherine E. Smith, Psy.D., a Psychology Associate, and has earned her doctorate in clinical psychology at the American School of Professional Psychology at Argosy University, in Arlington, VA, and her Masters in Psychology at Pepperdine University in Malibu, CA. Dr. Smith completed her Pre-Doctoral Internship at Associated Clinical Services, a private practice in Springfield VA.

 

Dr. Smith has worked with a wide range of clinical pathology in all ages, but her primary focus is adolescents and young adults struggling with mood disorders, anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, ADHD, sexuality and LGBT issues, crisis management, suicidal ideation and behaviors, adjustment disorders, and other interpersonal difficulties. She has worked with individuals presenting with a broad range of concerns, including anxiety, depression, ADHD, personality disorders, trauma, and disruptive behaviors. Dr. Wiemken provides evidence-based treatment and is trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Trauma-Focused CBT, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Parent Management Training, and Structural Family Therapy. Dr. Wiemken additionally conducts psychological testing and assessments with children, adolescents, and young adults.

 

Dr. Wiemken received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Monmouth University in Long Branch, NJ. Louis Woolard, Jr.

Louis E. Woolard, Jr., Ph.D., LCSW-C is a licensed clinical social worker who earned his degree at Marywood University. His special interests include child, adolescent, adult, and family psychotherapy, and program development. Louis Woolard previously was Director of the Child and Youth Services Administration for the Commission on Mental Health Services for the District of Columbia, Director of a community mental health center, and Director of Residential Programs and Community Services for the New York State Office of Mental Health. Martin Schnuit

Martin Schnuit, LCSW-C is a clinical social worker with advanced training and extensive experience in the mental health field. He received his MSW degree from the University of Maryland where he also completed two internships at the United States Department of Veterans Affairs, VA Medical Center.

 

In the past; he was a child and adolescent therapist at Glen Burnie Mental Health, has done contractual work for the Department of Juvenile Justice, was employed for three years at the Department of Health and Mental Hygiene, and was also on the Emergency Department staff at North Arundel Hospital. Martin is also a consultant for Sheppard Pratt Health Systems, providing evaluation and psychotherapy for students in the Hannah More and Forbush Schools.

 

Areas of interest include ADHD, anxiety disorders, PTSD, anger/stress management, addictions/alcoholism, childhood conduct problems, school difficulties, autism, Eastern philosophy and meditation, and art therapy.

Deanna Sanders, Psy.D., is a licensed clinical psychologist. She completed her post-doctoral fellowship at Spectrum Behavioral Health under the supervision of Scott E. Smith, Ph.D. Dr. Sanders works with children, adolescents, and adults who experience a range of concerns including anxiety and panic disorders, depression, trauma, addiction, adjustment disorders, ADHD, oppositional defiant disorder, and intermittent explosive disorder. She also conducts psychological testing.

 

Dr. Sanders earned her Masters and Doctoral degrees in clinical psychology from the Illinois School of Professional Psychology. She has experience working in inpatient, outpatient, and intensive outpatient settings. As part of her training, Dr. Sanders has completed three externships and one internship. She completed her internship at Pennsylvania Counseling Services where she provided mental health and addictions counseling, as well as completed psychological assessments.

 

Dr. Sanders primarily uses cognitive behavioral therapy to help people build new skills to manage and cope with problems and encourages them to consider problems from new perspectives. She also utilizes positive psychology to build on people’s individual strengths, as well as mindfulness meditation and motivational interviewing.
