| F. Bruce Martenis, Ph.D. (Annapolis
office) is a psychologist who has a wide range
of interests, and has over 30 years of experience
as a generalist in public, private and medical
settings.
An avid sea kayaker, he learned to play
the piano at age 47, became Certified as an Open
Water Diver at age 53, built his own sailboat
at age 56, and creates his own style of Nantucket
Lightship Baskets at his home in Annapolis.
Dr. Martenis earned his doctorate from Boston College,
and returned to school to complete an M.B.A. in
Medical Management from Johns Hopkins Medical
School in 2001. He also holds degrees from Kutztown
University and Michigan State University. Dr.
Martenis has held a variety of positions such
as foundry worker, construction worker, elementary
school teacher (grades 4 and 5), special education
teacher, and psychologist at the Milton Hershey
School.
Dr. Martenis began a consulting company that now
provides psychological testing services for approximately
20 nuclear power plants in the United States.
He has 30 years of experience in providing EAP,
Substance Abuse, psychological evaluations, management
consultation, and life coaching services for employees
in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Maryland. He
integrates cognitive-behavioral, psychodynamic,
short term therapy and other modalities as needed
to individualize the treatment of depression,
anxiety and relationship issues in adolescents
and adults.
Dr. Martenis specializes in working
with trauma, anxiety and panic in adolescents
and adults, as well as people who have substance
problems. Another area of interest is integrating
Eastern therapeutic ideas, meditation and spiritual
issues into therapy when requested. |
